Several 49ers players have taken shots at the Eagles ever since their season came to an end at the hands of them in the NFC Championship game. The latest player is the kicker on the team.
During an interview with Trey Wingo of The 33rd Team, 49ers kicker Robbie Gould claims the Chiefs will have a “solid day” on defense if they force Hurts to play quarterback inside State Farm Stadium.
“If Kansas City gets up on them early, it may take them a little bit out of their game with their run plan, which I’m assuming they’ll try to get going first,” Gould said. “If you make Jalen Hurts play quarterback, you’re probably gonna have a pretty solid day on defense.”
Pretty harsh analysis, but is he wrong?
In 15 starts this season, Hurts completed 66.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,701 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. I think it’s pretty clear he can play the QB position quite well.
Speaking of quarterbacks, 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was also taking some shots at the Eagles. According to him, the Niners would have won that NFC title game by “double digits” if their starting quarterback, Brock Purdy, didn’t get hurt.
