It’s starting to look like the San Francisco 49ers will be without one of their key offensive playmakers for Sunday’s home tilt against the Arizona Cardinals.
Per ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, Samuel wasn’t spotted in the early stages of 49ers’ team practice on Thursday. Wagoner’s ESPN colleague, Field Yates, noted that this was the second straight day where Samuel missed practice.
Samuel is dealing with knee and rib injuries. He suffered the latter in the team’s Week 3 Thursday Night Football home game against the New York Giants. Samuel went off that day for six receptions, 129 yards and a touchdown.
The 49ers enter Week 4 as one of the last three undefeated teams, along with the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles. Arizona is coming off a giant upset win at home over the Dallas Cowboys by a final score of 28-16.
Through San Francisco’s 49ers three games, the 27-year-old Samuel has 17 receptions for 247 yards, one touchdown and 48 rushing yards on eight carries for one rushing touchdown.
