We’re well into the 2023 offseason, and Cardinals star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins still hasn’t been traded.
It would be hard to imagine D-Hop returning to the desert next season after all of the offseason drama and the current state of the Cardinals’ offense — especially with Kyler Murray still recovering from a torn ACL.
However, based on the Cards’ current asking price, a Hopkins trade may not be a sure thing after all — unless, of course, they’re willing to reconsider their demands.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Cardinals are looking for “almost like a Christian McCaffrey package” in return for Hopkins. For those who may not remember, CMC was dealt to the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2022 NFL trade deadline in exchange for second-, third- and fourth-round picks in 2023, and a fifth-rounder in 2024.
Fowler also added that, “Arizona would have to come off their asking price” if they want to actually get a deal done.

The Niners gave up quite a bit for McCaffrey last season, but the move appeared to pay off, as the former Carolina Panthers was a key factor in San Francisco’s deep playoff run. It’s unlikely anyone will be willing to fork over a similar package for Hopkins.
Sure, he may have five Pro Bowls, six 1,000-yard seasons and 71 career touchdowns to his name, but he’s also turning 31-years-old this offseason and he hasn’t surpassed the 800-yard mark over the last two seasons while missing 15 games over that span.
