DeAndre Hopkins has been the biggest free agent on the market since he was released by the Arizona Cardinals last month, but there’s optimism he could be taken off the market this Thursday.
The wide receiver is meeting with the New England Patriots today, having scheduled a visit with the team last week. And, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, there’s optimism a deal could be reached before he leaves.
“The free agent is planning to visit Gillette Stadium on Thursday, and there’s optimism the two sides can find a way to reach an agreement, according to a person with knowledge of the matter,” Howe wrote this week.
Hopkins has already visited the Tennessee Titans, and things are said to have gone well. But he does have a few options as he’s still one of the best receivers in the NFL at 31. So it’s up to the Pats to convince him they’re the team he’s going to win with.
Hopkins Has Outlined What He Wants From His Next Team
The three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler has said he’s looking to join a team with a top quarterback. And, while Mac Jones isn’t quite there yet, the young QB could develop into a formidable threat with a wideout like Hopkins to throw to.
Jones has made no secret of wanting the WR to play alongside him while other Pats players have done their part to recruit the star free agent.

Should Hopkins agree to a deal with New England, they could become one of the more interesting teams in the league after missing the playoffs last season.
