Former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will question his future in the league once he starts to become washed up.
DeAndre Hopkins was shockingly released by the Arizona Cardinals during the 2023 NFL offseason and has yet to be snagged by another team in the weeks and months following.
In the meantime, the free agent wide receiver is speaking about his post-career this week and when he knows the exact time he’ll walk off into the sunset. Taking to Twitter, Hopkins stated once he realizes he cannot put up 1,000 yards in a season any longer, he will hang up his cleats.
However, he also added that the way he feels, he might end up playing until he is 37. He is currently 31 which gives him about six more years in the league if he can keep up his pace.
“I’ll retire from football when I’m not a 1k-yard receiver. With that said, I was on pace for 1,400 yards last year—one significant injury in 11 years. I might be playing till I’m 37 the way I feel.”
Hopkins appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals in his first season, finishing with 115 catches for 1,407 yards and six touchdowns. He finished with 572 yards and eight touchdowns on 42 catches a year after playing in only 10 games.
