In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock and avoid social media somehow, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray erased a handful of pictures from his Instagram account. His behavior had many thinking he was upset with the franchise or he was angling towards getting his contract extension.
During a recent interview with Bruce Murray and Rich Gannon on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins provided an interesting theory as to why he did that.
“The only thing I can think was because he wanted to show off some new outfits for the upcoming season and he didn’t want you guys looking at the old ones,” Hopkins told former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon and Bruce Murray on SiriusXM.
Hopkins is the second wide receiver on the Cardinals to address Murray’s social media activity this week. Christian Kirk shared his thoughts on this situation while at the WM Phoenix Open’s ‘Dream Day’ while former Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald also spoke up on it.
After the quarterback scrubbed his social media account of all but two photos recently, the Cardinals social media team has done the same to its account on the platform.
It only has two posts, one from when the team drafted Murray in 2019 and one of photos from the Pro Bowl over the weekend.
Perhaps the Cardinals’ Instagram scrubbing was just to show that Murray’s was really no big deal, but we won’t truly know until the man himself speaks up.
