DeAndre Hopkins took a page out of the Kevin Durant playbook over the weekend, and he came away with a massive egg on his face as a result.
As you’ve probably heard by now, the star wideout agreed to a contract with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, which could pay him up to $32-million over the next two seasons.
After the news broke, popular Patriots die-hard @BabzOnTheMic took to twitter to say that he “never wanted DeAndre Hopkins in the first place.” The so-called “Leader of Patriots Nation” also claimed the “Patriots did the right thing,” while adding that be he believes D-Hop is “gonna be washed this season.”
In text-book Kevin Durant fashion, Hopkins paid attention to the noise and fired back at @BabzOnTheMic.
Unfortunately for Hopkins, he hit the “send” button before realizing that the Pats fan was actually being sarcastic during his rant.

Realizing his embarrassing error, Hopkins was at least cool enough to delete the tweet and send an apology to @BabzOnTheMic.
Nice to see the two of them clear things up.
After putting up 1,407 yards in his first season with the Cardinals, it was tough sledding for the former Clemson Tiger over the last two years. In 2021, Hopkins managed to play in just 9 games, putting up a career-low 572 yards. Last season wasn’t much better, as he had just 717 yards and three touchdowns in nine games after serving a six-game suspension for PEDs to open the season.
While @BabzOnTheMic may have been sarcastic about his comments, he does have a point. It’s a questionable signing for the Titans, to say the very least — especially after they traded away a 25-year-old A.J. Brown last offseason because they refused to pay him.
If D-Hop can’t bounce back during his age-31 season in the Music City, this could turn out to be one of the worst signings of the 2023 offseason.
