DeAndre Hopkins is thought to have put off making a decision in free agency as he’s keen on waiting for a particular team to make him a contract offer.
Sources have claimed that the wide receiver has received offers from both the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots and is mulling over both of them. But those reports surfaced several weeks ago and it was expected that he would have made a choice by now.
NFL analyst Mike Jurecki, who previously worked with the Arizona Cardinals, has offered some insight as to why that may be. According to Jurecki, the free agent wideout could be waiting on the Kansas City Chiefs to extend Chris Jones, which would free up cap space for the Super Bowl champions to make him an offer.
D-Hop has already outlined what he’s looking for from his next team, and the Chiefs fit the bill. They would also offer him the best shot at winning a championship, although they might not be able to offer him the type of money the Pats or Titans can afford this year.
Should he be keener on winning over a payday, the Chiefs would have a marked advantage in the race. They are reported to be interested, with ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler claiming recently that they are staying in contact with the player.
