The Buffalo Bills’ struggling and maddening offense now must get by without one of its top weapons for the foreseeable future.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott announced that star tight end Dawson Knox is out indefinitely after undergoing wrist surgery. McDermott stated that it’s “too early to say how much time” Knox will miss.
Knox has been one of Josh Allen’s most trusted weapons since 2021. He exceeded 500 yards receiving in both 2021 and 2022, with a whopping 15 touchdown receptions over those two seasons.
Through Buffalo’s first seven games, the 26-year-old Knox had 15 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. His best season came in 2020, when Knox hauled in 49 receptions for 587 yards and nine touchdowns.
Buffalo is coming off a frustrating 29-25 road loss to the rival New England Patriots, who entered the contest with three straight defeats.
Allen had thoroughly dominated New England since 2020, going 6-1 (including the playoffs) against Bill Belichick and company. Sunday also marked Buffalo’s first loss at Gillette Stadium in four years.

Fortunately for the Bills, Tua Tagovailoa and the surging Miami Dolphins put up a stinker on Sunday, falling 31-17 on the road to the Philadelphia Eagles. With both clubs losing, Buffalo remains one game behind Miami (5-2) for first in the AFC East, and the head-to-head tiebreaker currently belongs to Allen’s club.
Buffalo will try to rebound on Thursday night when they welcome Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
