Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy is a very rich man but that does not mean he likes losing money no matter the amount.
Portnoy shared a video via Instagram announcing his class-action lawsuit against the Cincinnati Bengals for failing to disclose an injury to quarterback Joe Burrow ahead of their Thursday Night Football loss against the Baltimore Ravens.
The 46-year-old might be joking but it should be noted that his father, Michael J. Portnoy, is a real lawyer, so there’s also a chance he really goes through with the class action on behalf of sports gamblers.
“I’m filing a class action lawsuit against the Bengals and NFL for lying about the injury report,” he wrote on social media. “There is no shot I put $100,000 hard-earned dollars on the Bengals if I knew Joe Burrow was injured going into the game.”
“If you or somebody you know has been harmed gambling on the NFL by [the NFL commissioner] and specifically the Bengals on Thursday [Night] Football you may be entitled to damages,” Portnoy wrote on IG. “Please contact the Law Firm of ‘@TheCousinMike.’ Let us work for you. No settlement. No fees.”

As you see, this all stems from the Cincinnati Bengals suffering a setback during their Nov. 16 match against the Baltimore Ravens when quarterback Joe Burrow had a wrist injury that eventually took him out of the game.
The Bengals stirred up controversy after a video was posted and quickly deleted from the team’s social media pages showing Burrow wearing a brace or some kind of cast on his right hand. The team did not list him on the injury report.
The NFL is conducting an investigation into the team to determine why Burrow’s injury wasn’t disclosed to the league. If the NFL finds that the Bengals mishandled the injury report, the team could be fined or docked a draft pick.
