Dave Portnoy’s run of luck in 2024 continues.
Just a few months ago, the Barstools Sports founder had claimed that he was finished with gambling after losing a “monster bet” on the Buffalo Bills, claiming the NFL is “rigged.” Portnoy described himself as a “degenerate gambler my whole life” and he is living up to it in the present day but now he is a degenerate who is cashing in.
Portnoy placed a whopping bet of$500,000 on who will win Super Bowl LVIII. He put his money on the Kansas City Chiefs to win against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
San Francisco looked like a team that would get their revenge this time around but they blew a 10-point lead against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, just like it did in Super Bowl four years ago.
The Chiefs would come out victorious. That is a nice six-figure win for Portnoy.
At the start of 2024, he bet $1 million that the Michigan Wolverines would beat Alabama at the Rose Bowl and they did just that.

Portnoy also placed a bet on the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans game, predicting it would exceed 43.5 points. That was also a winner.
A record 67.8 million American adults – 26% – were expected to bet on the Super Bowl this year, according to a new survey from the American Gaming Association. That is a 35% increase from 2023. In total, wagers were expected to add up to $23.1 billion, up from $16 billion last year.
