Davante Adams has already lost his favorite teammate given the situation that unfolded with Derek Carr. Now it seems he might be without one of the most productive players the Raiders have been fielding over the past few seasons as he heads into his second term with the team.
Running back Josh Jacobs remains in self-imposed exile, having so far refused to sign the team’s franchise tag after the Vegas-based outfit failed to extend him to a long-term deal.
Adams, who was already thought to be unhappy even before all of this started, has expressed his displeasure with the situation, pointing out that the team needs Jacobs’ expertise as a ball carrier.
Speaking to NFL Network’s Bridget Condon and former Stanford head coach David Shaw over the weekend, Davante Adams said he’s “not happy” that they don’t have Jacobs with the team. The star wide receiver claimed the Raiders offense needs a “dog” who can carry the ball 300-plus times.
“He’s a huge part of this team and this offense. He’s a really good leader,” Adams told NFL Network’s Bridget Condon and ex-Stanford coach David Shaw on the weekend. “Obviously, he played like the best back in the league last year, which if you ask me he is the best back in the league.”
Josh Jacobs Could Become A Free Agent
Adams also disclosed having gotten in Jacobs’ ear with some advice as he’s had his own experiences with contract disputes.

“It’s not easy to push forward and make decisions when you don’t feel that true value from the organization … I understand that part, but I also try to get him to understand the other side, play the devil’s advocate a little bit,” he added.
The Raiders retain the right to pull the offer back and make the player a free agent. But it is hoped that they could find common ground, especially as Saquon Barkley was able to come to terms with the New York Giants on the back of an identical situation.
