A blockbuster trade proposal has the Las Vegas Raiders sending their top offensive player to a contender in the NFC.
Last year, the Raiders acquired the All-Pro wideout from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for 2022 first and second-round selections. The Raiders then handed Adams a lucrative five-year contract extension worth $141.25 million.
Earlier this month, Adams fueled some trade speculation when he admitted that he doesn’t “see eye-to-eye” with head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler in regards to what “is best for” the organization.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio floated the idea of the Raiders trading Adams, and he listed the New Orleans Saints as a potential destination. Carr, of course, signed with New Orleans in free agency following his release from Vegas:
“So where would he go, if traded? The Jets surely don’t have a spot for him, not with so many solid receivers on the roster. The Saints would be an intriguing option, allowing for another reunion with Derek Carr…
The biggest impediment to doing a deal could be the total investment made for what would be one year with Adams. They Raiders have paid him $42.75 million. They gave up a first-round pick and a second-round pick to get him.
They would need a significant haul to justify what was surrendered for a single 17-game, no-playoffs season. If they should get one, maybe they would take it. Again, 12 days from now, the cap consequence won’t be nearly as bad as it would be today.”
Carr and Adams were teammates at Fresno State, and the latter’s wish to reunite with the veteran quarterback was a key factor in the Packers-Raiders trade. With Carr now quarterbacking the Saints, a reunion with Adams makes all the sense in the world.

New Orleans has a wealth of playmakers on offense, led by star running back Alvin Kamara, 2019 Offensive Player of the Year Michael Thomas, standout second-year receiver Chris Olave, free agent pickup Jamaal Williams and tight end Juwan Johnson.
Adding a player of Adams’ caliber would take the New Orleans offense to a new level. But would the Raiders really look at trading their star wideout after giving up so much for him a year ago? That’s the main question, but you have to think Ziegler would listen if the right offer came up.
