A fascinating trade proposal has the Las Vegas Raiders dealing All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to another contender in the AFC.
In March of last year, the Raiders acquired the star wideout from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for 2022 first and second-round picks. Adams then signed a six-year contract extension worth a whopping $141.25 million.
It was well-known that Adams wanted to reunite with then-Raiders quarterback and old Fresno State teammate Derek Carr. But the Raiders underperformed and won just six games last season, and Carr was released just one year after signing a three-year extension. He went on to sign a four-year deal with the New Orleans Saints in free agency.
With Carr long gone, there has been plenty of speculation that Adams and the Raiders may be headed for a divorce. If Adams hits the trade block, there certainly won’t be a shortage of teams interested in him.
Jared Mueller of the Cleveland Browns’ SB Nation site, Dawgs By Nature, proposed the idea of the AFC North club making a trade for the Raiders’ star wide receiver:
“At one point, Josh McDaniels was seen as the savior Cleveland needed. Now, he looks to be trying to salvage his second head coaching position with Jimmy Garoppolo taking over for Derek Carr. Adams pushed for a trade to the Las Vegas Raiders to team with Carr and could be looking for his way out if the season doesn’t start well.
While Adams reuniting with Aaron Rodgers will be discussed, joining the Browns would give the team a much better version of DeAndre Hopkins that fans wanted this offseason. Adams is a precise, talented route runner that would create perfection in Cleveland’s passing attack.”

Adding Adams would certainly go a long way in bolstering the Browns’ offensive attack. For starters, they already have a top-five RB in the game in Nick Chubb and a consistent 1,000-yard wideout in Amari Cooper.
But the Browns also play in a brutal division, one that saw their three opponents all finish above .500 last year. Acquiring Adams would certainly help Cleveland’s chances of going from playoff hopeful to Super Bowl contender.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if the Raiders end up placing their star receiver on the trade block. For now, Adams is preparing to start the 2023 season with Vegas.
