The Las Vegas Raiders have a clear vision about who they want to be, but one player on the team is not so sure.
The team is seemingly trying to be what the Patriots used to be. Last year, Raiders owner Mark Davis hired New England’s director of player personnel Dave Ziegler to be the GM and Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to be their head coach.
The top two quarterbacks on their depth chart, are Jimmy Garoppolo and Brian Hoyer. The roster also includes Jakobi Meyers, who was signed to a three-year, $33 million deal in free agency in the wake of Las Vegas flipping Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants.
All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams isn’t on the same page with the Raiders’ team-building philosophy. The 30-year-old told The Ringer his vision of contending for Super Bowls is out of alignment with what appears to be a retooling or rebuilding offseason in Las Vegas.
“[The front office] think this is the best bet for us right now to put us in a position to be urgent. We don’t see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now,” Adams said. “I’m going to have to buy into this and try to be as optimistic as possible. It’s not what I expected to happen, but it’s something that’s the reality now.”
After his comments, Adams posted a picture of himself with his arm around Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler on his Instagram with a 2-word message.
“The man,” Adams wrote in the caption.

Davante Adams spent the first eight years of his NFL career in Green Bay catching passes from longtime Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
He would then get traded to the Raiders to play with his college QB in Derek Carr.
After tallying a league-leading 14 touchdowns as well as 1,516 receiving yards last season, Adams received his third consecutive first-team All-Pro nod.
Carr was ultimately benched and then released this offseason. He will now be playing with the Saints.
