Davante Adams had his introductory press conference Tuesday and made a few comments about his new home, after spending eight years with the Green Bay Packers.
Many fans and analysts were surprised by his decision to waive his no-trade clause to leave the organization that drafted him with a second-round pick in 2014. But the new Las Vegas wide receiver had a very good reason as to why he did so.
“I have a lot of family in California that’s never been to see me play before. … Just kind of reflecting and thinking about life things and stuff that really matters in this world, that’s stuff that matters to me,” he said, per NFL insider Nick Shook.
Adams says the move is “a dream come true.”
The Raiders landed Adams in a blockbuster trade that sent a 2022 first-round pick (22nd overall) and a 2022 second-round pick (53rd overall) to Green Bay.

Adams is playing on a five-year deal worth $141.5 million. His former team placed the franchise tag on Adams in March, but he told Green Bay that he would not be playing for them in 2022.
Adams caught 123 passes for 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
The Raiders now have one of the top wide receivers in the game in Adams. As a result, they’ll be facing some lofty expectations to do something worthwhile in the AFC West. It won’t be easy with guys like Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Russell Wilson quarterbacking their division rivals, but the addition of Adams to an already impressive offense should at least put the Chiefs, Chargers and Broncos on notice.
