With the NFL trade deadlines less than two weeks away, phones are ringing and rumors are swirling around big stars on less-than-stellar teams. It has many thinking if the Raiders might be a seller.
The Las Vegas Raiders are coming off back-to-back victories, but star wide receiver Davante Adams wasn’t a huge part of those games and he is not happy about it.
He was targeted a total of nine times in Las Vegas’ victories over the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots. Adams caught six of those passes for 74 yards.
He’s happy about the wins but not about his diminishing role on the offense.
“I’m sure people are thinking, ‘They won the game, why is there an issue?’ I mean, you see why it’s an issue,” Adams said, via ESPN. “Y’all should know who I am, know what I’m about at this point … when you’re a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses — it’s greatness. So when I go out there, I expect to be able to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. That’s my purpose for being here. I’m not here just to hang out; I came here to win and to do it the right way.”
“I came here to win and to do it the right way, so if it doesn’t look like it’s supposed to look, then I’m going to be frustrated if I’m not part of that plan.”
Even though the Raiders have won the past two weeks, their offense scored a total of just 38 points. For the season, the Raiders are scoring 16.7 points per game which is tied with the Cincinnati Bengals for 27th.

“If Jakobi (Meyers) was to go out and have a monster game or the offense was to score every five plays … it is what it is,” Adams said. “It’s not about me, but I’m one of the bigger pieces as to why this offense is going to go.”
Adams made it clear that his gripes weren’t directed at coach Josh McDaniels and the staff, but at the quarterbacks needing to find ways to get him the ball.
“I’m not naive,” Adams said. “At the end of the day, it’s not easy throwing to somebody who gets the coverage that I get.”
The Raiders traded their 2022 first- and second-round draft picks last year to acquire Adams from the Packers. He certainly did not disappoint in his first year as he reeled in 100 passes last season for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns.
“It definitely makes you feel better that other people see it the same way as you, but that don’t fix it,” Adams said. “As a whole, we’ve still got to find a way to get going.”
Given his continued frustration, Adams’ name should be on any list of players who could be traded by the Oct. 31 deadline.
