Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has revealed he tried to get former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers to join him this offseason.
Rodgers has been traded to the New York Jets while the Raiders have made Jimmy Garoppolo their quarterback following his departure from the San Francisco 49ers. But Adams was keen on reuniting with the four-time MVP following Derek Carr’s exit earlier this year.
Speaking to The Ringer’s Mirin Fader, Adams admitted he missed playing with the veteran QB, though he proved he didn’t need him to continue to be a star in the NFL.
“I would even go as far as trying to make it happen. Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” he said. “Having that distance, and time away, kind of made me miss him.”
The wideout chose the Raiders so he could play with Carr, who’s understood to be his best friend. But things did not work out for them as the team would bench the signal-caller with two games of the regular season left to go, though they were still not mathematically out of playoff contention.
Adams is still pretty close to Rodgers, whom he has been spotted golfing with in Vegas.
