Darren Waller finally got his moment in the sun last Sunday as he scored the first touchdown of his career as a member of the New York Giants.
This was what the Giants and their fans envisioned after the team acquired Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders in March. However, could his stay be short-lived? Adding weapons for quarterback Daniel Jones was an offseason priority for the Giants, but now he could be seeing his way out of town.
The Las Vegas Raiders traded him to the Giants in exchange for a third-round pick in a shocking move that nobody saw coming.
An NFL scout now says that if New York attempts to send Waller elsewhere, the Cincinnati Bengals should jump at the opportunity to add him.
“Cincinnati needs a tight end. I think Darren Waller would be a perfect target for the Bengals at the trade deadline,” said the scout. “New York may not want to move him, but if they do, the Bengals should pounce.”
Waller is under contract through 2026.
The Cincinnati Bengals are currently in last place in the top-heavy AFC North as everybody is either .500 or better. adding a player like Waller could drastically help the Bengals make a run for the playoffs and get back to the AFC Championship game for a third consecutive season.

Waller played for the Raiders for the previous five seasons, when he became known as one of the league’s most potent tight ends. In 2020, the 30-year-old caught 107 catches for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl. He struggled with injuries the last two seasons, so he hasn’t been able to match that output.
Waller, who’s missed 14 games since 2021, was limited to 28 catches, 388 yards, and three TD receptions in nine appearances last year. The Georgia Tech product is under contract for four more seasons.
