Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland was stretchered off the field after coming down hard on his neck while trying to make a catch in an NFL preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field.
While he was being loaded onto a bodyboard, the Eagles fan base was cheerful in the stands as Cleveland was being put on a stretcher.
As the scene unfolded, fans at the Philadelphia stadium could be seen doing the “wave” in videos, igniting a fury of criticism on social media.
Eagles cornerback Darius Slay even had to call out his own fan base.
“Facts..we gots to be better Eagles fans!!!” Slay tweeted.
The franchise confirmed Cleveland suffered a neck injury during the third quarter, but fortunately has movement in all his extremities.

As the game continued, however, injuries continued to pile up for the home team. Eagles defensive tackle Moro Ojomo also suffered a neck injury in the second half and was carted off. The home team has since announced that Ojomo, a rookie out of Texas, has movement in all of his extremities.
The game concluded in an 18-1 tie.
The Eagles, the defending NFC champions, will open the 2023 season against the Patriots on Sunday, Sept. 10.
