Darius Slay has never forgotten the Detroit Lions loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the 2014 NFL Playoffs. You remember that playoff game where the Detroit Lions got screwed out of victory.
During a recent appearance with Bryant McFadden on the All Things Covered podcast, Slay said he would never play for the Cowboys because of how that game played out.
“I hate the Cowboys, because they cheated us [Detroit Lions] in the playoffs in 2014,” Slay said.
From 97.1 the Ticket:
“They cheated us in the playoffs in 2014.”
“When Dez Bryant ran up on the field, they pulled the flag, yeah, they cheated us.”
“I heard Dallas had wanted to trade for me. I said, ‘Nah, I ain’t going there.’ No sir,” said Slay.

“I wasn’t going to Dallas,” he said. “I couldn’t stand them. They cheated us.”
“It runs deep,” he said. “Runs deep.”
In the 2014 NFC Wild Card game, the Lions lost due to a controversial non-pass interference call on the Cowboys late in the fourth quarter. A flag was thrown and pass interference was called. Referee Pete Morelli would soon pick up the flag and announce that there was no penalty on the play.
To make matters worse, Dez Bryant was not flagged for running out onto the field without his helmet.
The Cowboys caught a huge break, but would get their karma against the Green Bay Packers when a Dez Bryant catch was ruled otherwise.
Slay spent his first seven NFL seasons in Detroit.
