Scuffles and fights during NFL joint practices are a fairly common occurrence between players battling for roster spots.
During a recent Ravens’ joint practice with the Commanders, emotions were high in a brutal practice that would result in an injury of a player.
In a video shared by NBC Washington on Tuesday, Baltimore’s star tight end Mark Andrews took issue with Commanders cornerback Danny Johnson. After he picked up a ball from the ground, Andrews body-slammed like a move often reserved for WWE matches.
On Thursday, it was reported Johnson suffered a strained rotator cuff due to being slammed to the turf by Andrews.
Andrews is 6-foot-5, 256-pounds while Johnson is 5-foot-9, 190-pounds. This was indeed a dirty play. It was the kind of play that would have Andrews facing a suspension had he done it in the regular season, but the NFL doesn’t govern discipline for joint practices.
This was the same practice where Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace and Commanders cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. each threw a punch earlier in the day that caused a massive brawl as well.
