The Green Bay Packers released a quarterback over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers released quarterback Danny Etling from the 90-man roster, which leaves the backup battle behind Jordan Love between fifth-round pick Sean Clifford and USFL MVP Alex McGough at this point of training camp.
Etling was the most experienced in a three-way battle to be Jordan Love’s backup, spending all of last season on the Packers practice squad.
The 29-year-old spent the first two years of his college football career at Purdue. He then transferred to LSU where he eventually became an SEC star.
In his final season with the Tigers, Etling threw for 2,463 yards and 16 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. He also picked up two scores on the ground in a year LSU finished the regular season 9-3 and earned a trip to the Citrus Bowl.
The Patriots drafted Etling in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s since spent time with the Falcons, Seahawks, Vikings, BC Lions, Broncos, Jaguars, and the Packers.

Etling had an impressive preseason last year, completing 17 of 22 passes for 220 yards, one touchdown, and a 123.3 rating.
He should find a new team in no time.
