New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been declared out for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets
Jones was listed as questionable last week leading into the team’s game against the Commanders. He wasn’t taking any of the full team reps so all signs pointed to him missing his second straight game since injuring his neck against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5.
During his regular spot on the Up & Adams show, Jones revealed he still hadn’t been cleared for contact. That didn’t change when the team returned to work on Wednesday.
“I feel good, and from a pain level, I feel good. I don’t have any pain, and it’s just passing a couple more tests,” Jones told reporters this week, adding his status was “kind of a week-to-week thing.”
Based on comments from his head coach, it seems his injury is much worse.
In response to reporters asking repeatedly whether Jones will play again this season, Giants coach Brian Daboll refused to say otherwise.
“I just say he’s getting better, and see where he is next week,” Daboll said.

He was then asked why he could previously say Jones’ season wasn’t over and now won’t say that.
“He’s getting better. We’ll see where he is next week. I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries, but he is getting better and we’ll see where he is next week,” Daboll said.
A reporter then said he was being less forthcoming about Jones being able to play again this year than he was previously, Daboll agreed with a one-word answer: “Yep.”
Jones missed the last six games of the 2021 season with a neck injury the team said is not related to this one. Jones hasn’t played since suffering the injury Oct. 8. This will be Tyrod Taylor’s third straight start.
He signed a four-year, $160 million contract this past offseason,
