When Tom Brady became a free agent after leaving the New England Patriots, there were many rumors of where he might end up, and the Raiders were one team on that list.
Brady ultimately signed with the Bucs, won a Super Bowl, played one more year before he retired.
UFC president Dana White is now admitting that he contacted the seven-time Super Bowl winner just after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.
“I was firing texts to him and he sent very cryptic text messages,” Dana White told TMZ Sports. “He had me thinking he wasn’t going to retire. So, you know what I was doing? I was hammering him to come to Vegas and play for the Raiders.”
Back in February 2020, sports writer Larry Fitzgerald Sr. reported that the Las Vegas Raiders were “prepared to offer” the six-time Super Bowl champion a two-year, $60 million contract.
The Raiders ultimately decided to stick with Derek Carr, and it resulted in a playoff appearance this past January and a loss to the Bengals, who are headed to the Super Bowl.
Now that he has more free time, we are likely to see Brady in UFC fights alongside White, since the now ex-quarterback is co-owner of the sports company.
