Before the 2020 season, social media was buzzing about how the Washington Redskins would be referred to as Washington Football Team for the upcoming season. As shocking as it was, the name has kid of stuck and doesn’t seem as silly as we thought it was at the time.
Now, TMZ Sports is reporting the team is weighing only two options for a team name change in the future.
“We have 2 leaders in the clubhouse when it comes to the new permanent name for the Washington Football Team … and one of ’em is inspired by that other brand of football.
Team sources tell us owner Daniel Snyder is strongly considering sticking with the Washington Football Team — for good reasons that we’ll get into in a moment — but we’re also told the Washington Football Club is also in the running.”
Washington Football Team or Washington Football Club.
The current team is now 6-8 on the year, with the Panthers and Eagles coming up on the schedule. They are somehow still in the lead in the NFC East.
