The Philadelphia Eagles already possess one of the most dangerous receiving tandems in football with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. However, it can get even more dangerous with a move this off-season.
Imagine having a guy like DeAndre Hopkins on the team.
It would be a dream scenario and a theory that ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky has been pushing hard as he believes the Eagles should put a call into Arizona to inquire about Hopkins, as well as Cardinals All-Pro safety Budda Baker.
Via Inside The Iggles:
“We should all pay attention to DeAndre Hopkins and Budda Baker in Arizona. If I was Philadelphia I would be making the call to see what’s it going to take to potentially acquire those guys because can you imagine … if you add DeAndre Hopkins to this offense — it’s an RPO-based offense with A.J. Brown — they are going to get a ton of single coverage, their big bodies will make the offense even easier to operate and then defensively they need a safety.
I would say that Budda Baker is the ideal fit for a guy who can play coverage but also be a very aggressive hitter against the run, and they did lose C.J. Gardner-Johnson in their secondary, so just have two names to pay attention to because I think the Eagles are very so much aware because their two-year ideal window is now.”
Orlovsky further added that the Eagles have a two-year window to win a Super Bowl due to the way Jalen Hurts’ contract has been structured. Hurts signed a five-year, $255 million contract last week, making him the player with the most annual earnings in NFL history at 24. About $179.3 million of that is guaranteed to Hurts, with $110 million guaranteed at signing.

Opposing defenses already had a tough enough time last year defending both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. So, could you imagine having to try and gameplan for three standout WRs on one team?
Their tight end, Dallas Goedert, is another playmaker for the offense. This unit would be unfair.
Hopkins has previously indicated this offseason that he’s interested in being traded, so returning to Arizona doesn’t appear to be an option for the five-time Pro Bowler, and until another team pounces, it does leave open the possibility of a surprise suitor emerging for Hopkins.
That trade just might come down during the NFL Draft.
The Eagles don’t have any picks in Rounds 4-6, so they may not be eager to give away their third-round pick this year. But if acquiring a Hall of Fame-caliber player to add to an already-stacked roster presents itself, it’s at least something the front office would have to consider.
