Dan Orlovsky is a man who likes to see chaos.
Many experts and fans believe the Chicago Bears are going to trade Justin Fields and select Caleb Williams with the first pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Any QB-starved team that had the number one slot would take him as well.
If Dan Orlovsky was in charge, he’d be making a very drastic different decision.
The former NFL quarterback stated on ESPN’s “Get Up” show that the Chicago Bears should pass up on selecting Caleb Williams and go with LSU star quarterback Jayden Daniels.
“That is knock on Caleb Williams, that is a plus on Jayden Daniels,” he said. “I think No. 1 when you watch all these guys play, the best thrower, the best guy against man coverage ball-placement-wise is Jayden Daniels. No. 2, when we’re talking about explosive plays, guys who have to throw the ball downfield what does it look like? Jayden Daniels throws the ball best down field. And then No. 3, he’s got the best pocket peace … all these guys are athletic. It’s no longer this plus, everyone of these guys has that attribute. Patience and peace within the pocket, he’s the best at.”
At this moment, Williams, Daniels, and UNC’s Drake Maye stand out as the top three quarterbacks available in this year’s draft class.

Daniels had a breakout in 2023, throwing for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and just four interceptions while rushing for 1,134 yards and another 10 scores en route to winning the Heisman Memorial Trophy.
Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, completed 68.6% of his passes and threw for 3,633 yards with 30 touchdowns and five interceptions last season for USC.
The projected No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft has gone on record to state he has no issue with being drafted by the Bears despite rumors swirling for months saying he did not want to play for the franchise.
“If I get drafted by the Bears, I’ll be excited,” Williams said. “If they trade the pick, and I get drafted by someone else, I’m just as excited. Speaking about Chicago, they have a talented team, a talented offense and defense. For anyone to be in that situation, I think they’d be excited.”
