Dan Campbell’s wife, Holly, took to Instagram to address the Detroit Lions’ heartbreaking loss to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round.
The Lions entered the postseason as the heavy favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, having secured the top seed with a 15-2 record (the best regular season finish in franchise history). But it wasn’t to be, as Jayden Daniels Commanders came into Motor City and thoroughly dominated Detroit 45-31 to reach the NFC Championship Game.
After the loss, Mrs. Campbell took to Instagram and addressed Lions nation with an emotional message:
“It hurts. This season was a dream and nobody wanted it to end. We all wanted more. Detroit deserved more. We’ll be back, better and stronger but today…it just hurts💙 #onepride”
Dan Campbell was visibly distraught after the Lions’ loss in his post-game press conference and put the blame squarely on himself:

Dan Campbell & Lions Just Have To Learn From This Loss
At the end of the day, only one of the 32 NFL teams will end their season on a happy note as the Super Bowl champions. The Lions didn’t achieve the ultimate goal this year, but the organization just has to look at how much progress they’ve made over these last two years.
Peyton Manning, John Elway and Matthew Stafford serve as great examples about how sometimes even the best have to wait a long time for their moment in the sun. This was a tough way to end 2024, but by no means was it Detroit’s last shot at winning it all.
