A viral video from 2021 of Detroit Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell detailing his monster daily order from Starbucks has resurfaced.
Before the start of his coaching tenure in Detroit, Campbell became popular among fans for his passionate energy and soundbites during press conferences (see: the “bite a kneecap off” comment in Jan. 2021).
A day after the Lions upset the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, Joe Pompliano shared a viral clip from 2021 of Campbell sharing what he orders from Starbucks on a daily basis.
Hey, whatever keeps Campbell awake, energetic and motivated. Being an NFL head coach requires never-ending focus, especially during the season. And judging by the job Campbell has done in Detroit up to this point, it’s clear that the mammoth amounts of caffeine he consumes are helping tremendously.
Last year, Campbell coached the Lions to a 9-8 finish, marking the franchise’s first winning season since 2017. With Aaron Rodgers out of the division now, the Lions are the clear-cut favorites to win the NFC North in 2023.

On Thursday, Campbell’s Lions handed the Chiefs their first Week 1 loss since the 2014 season. Detroit, meanwhile, also achieved its first 1-0 start in six years. The Lions now get to enjoy an extended break before they come home for a Week 2 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks at Ford Field next Sunday.
