Life comes at you quickly. Damon Arnette knows all about that, as he went from being indicted on assault and drawing a deadly weapon charges to booking himself a visit with the Dallas Cowboys in the span of less than 24 hours.
On Monday, Arnette pleaded guilty to the aforementioned misdemeanor charges, which stem from an incident back on January 28, 2022. According to police records, Arnette showed his gun to a Park MGM valet attendant after he couldn’t find his ticket. As a result of his guilty plea, the judge ordered Arnette to complete 50 hours of community service, pay a $2,000 fine and forfeit any guns he owns.
With no jail time to serve, Arnette was free to resume his NFL career following Monday’s decision. And it didn’t take him long to make his first move, as he immediately booked himself a visit with the Dallas Cowboys.
“If I’m blessed enough to get another chance in the NFL, then I’m going to kill that,” Arnette said about the opportunity. “I’ve learned a lot. I’m remorseful about everything. I appreciate and respect another opportunity. I’m a better man than I was.”
Arnette was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He was released in November 2021 after video surfaced of the former Ohio State cornerback brandishing a gun.
