Bruce Arians is done being a head coach for the Tampa Bay Bucs, and Tom Brady might be the most excited about on the team, at least according to the below report.
The former Buccaneers coach, who announced his surprise retirement from coaching and ensuing move to a front-office position with the team, held his farewell press conference Thursday.
Amid his many questions from reporters, he was asked about his relationship with Tom Brady.
“We have a great relationship,” Arians told reporters. “All the players, every one of them has gotten cussed out, including him. That’s just part of me. We have a great relationship. As soon as he retired, we texted each other every week… People gotta write s—. It couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Seems like a legit statement, but the latest column from Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard states that Arians and Brady didn’t get along well on the football field.
Bedard claims Brady “loathed” playing for Arians.
“If you’re still under the delusion that Tom Brady’s unretirement and Bruce Arians’ retirement two weeks later were unrelated, then I have some prime swampland to sell you,” Bedard wrote. “Brady loathed playing for Arians and his respect for Belichick professionally grew as a result. Brady still has major issues with Belichick that will likely never go away, but not on the football field.”

While Brady was retired, reports emerged claiming a rift had grown between Arians and Brady down the stretch of last season and contributed to his reason to retire. Arians dismissed the reports at the time as “bulls–t.”
After Arians announced his decision, Brady shared some kind words.
“Smart, tough, and loyal are a few of the words to describe your style,” Brady captioned an Instagram post thanking Arians on Wednesday. “I will always remember the conversations we had when you recruited me two years ago and all of the things we discussed came true. We all benefited from your leadership and guidance and I’m so proud of everything we accomplished. You were a huge part of the decision to join the Bucs and I’m forever grateful.”
