The Las Vegas Raiders aren’t resting on their laurels and waiting for Josh Jacobs to make a decision on whether he wants to play for them or not.
According to the agent of Damien Williams, Ian Greengross, the running back has signed a deal with the team ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
Williams played a huge role in the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl in 2019, rushing for over 130 yards and scoring two touchdowns in the 31-20 win against the San Francisco 49ers. He brings some much-needed experience to an outfit looking set to head into next season without one of its most productive players.
Jacobs hopped on a plane out of Vegas several weeks ago and it was said that he had no intention to return anytime soon. Given that he did not sign the team’s franchise tag offer, he isn’t subject to any punishment. And whether he sits the entire season out remains to be seen.
As Mike Florio has pointed out, the Raiders could rescind the tag if they so desire, which would make the star RB a free agent.
In Wiliams, Vegas now has a versatile back who can impact the game on multiple facets. He has played for the Miami Dolphins, Chiefs, Chicago Bears, and Atlanta Falcons since going undrafted in 2014.
