A scary scene unfolded yesterday during the Sunday night matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Giants at Highmark Stadium. During the second quarter, Bills running back Damien Harris took a handoff from Josh Allen and immediately was tackled by Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke.
At first, it looked like any other tackle that you would see dozen of times during an NFL football game, however, when Harris remained on the ground, it was clear that something was wrong. The Bills running back ended up sustaining a neck injury and an ambulance was needed to remove him from the field in a scene all too familiar to what we witnessed with Damar Hamlin earlier this year.
While on the stretcher and being loaded into the ambulance, Harris gave a thumbs up, letting all fans know that he was able to move his arms which was a very encouraging sign.
thankfully, we have since received a positive update from Bills head coach Sean McDermott, who said, “Things are heading in a good direction right now for Damien.” McDermott noted that Harris has full movement in his body and that the tests that have been performed so far have had positive results, which is obviously great news.
And the news got even better this morning, as Harris was released from the hospital. Reports state that he still has “neck pain,” but other than that he’s expected to be “fine.”

After spending his first four seasons with the Patriots, Harris signed a one-year contract this past off season with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills will head to New England next week to take on the Patriots and hopefully Damien Harris will be healthy enough to suit up against his former team.
