Buffalo Bills star cornerback Tre’Davious White shared an emotional text message the team received from safety Damar Hamlin, who remains in hospital after undergoing cardiac arrest on Monday.
Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after taking Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins during Monday night’s game. Medical personnel was able to restore Hamlin’s heartbeat before he was taken away in an ambulance to a hospital.
The 24-year-old had his breathing tube removed on Friday, and he communicated with the team via FaceTime during a team meeting. Playing with heavy hearts on Sunday, the Bills defeated the New England Patriots 35-23 to finish with a 14-3 record.
After the emotional win, White detailed a text message the team received from Hamlin. In the message, Hamlin apologized for having them in a difficult situation, per Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD.com.
What happened on Monday night was a freak accident and absolutely nobody’s fault. Hamlin is on the track to recovering following a horrific situation, and it’s truly heartwarming to see the NFL world coming together during a very difficult time.
