Damar Hamlin returned to Paycor Stadium for the first time since he went into cardiac arrest back in January which was the last time the Buffalo Bills visited the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin was made inactive for this game as he has yet to play in a single game this year.
After the game was over, Hamlin took a moment after the game to reflect, standing alone at midfield, visibly emotional as he went to the spot where he collapsed and had to be brought back to life thanks to medical personnel.
Hamlin was treated on the field by team and independent medical personnel along with local paramedics before being taken by ambulance to UC Medical Center. His recovery has been remarkable.
The Bengals beat the Bills, 24-18, but Hamlin’s trip to Ohio was about more than just football.
Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation announced Sunday the launch of a new scholarship program for Cincinnati youth in honor of the medical team that helped save his life. The scholarship will specifically support underserved high school and college-bound students hoping to attend Greater Cincinnati area private high schools, trade school, or Cincinnati-area universities.
