Damar Hamlin is sporting a new tattoo as he recovers from the cardiac incident that nearly cost him his life.
Hamlin, a member of the Buffalo Bills secondary, is recovering very well and has gotten himself some new ink to commemorate the journey. According to TMZ Sports, he chose a space-themed tattoo to remind him that he’s on a path of healing after the scare from early January.
Hamlin had the tattoo done by artist Andres Ortega at Onder Ink in Arizona a few days before the Super Bowl. He made an appearance at the game on Sunday, where he was honored along with the medical staff who provided his care, though he has faced some backlash over his choice of outfit.
The tattoo features an astronaut sitting in a yoga pose in the middle of the Milky Way Galaxy and covers the back of the safety’s left hand.
The fan reaction has not been great, to say the least.

According to Ortega, Hamlin was also trying to show that he’s been on a quest for peace. He might have some difficulty on that front given the rife claims over him being a clone.
