Damar Hamlin’s objective to resume his playing career after a near-death experience in early January became complete when the Bills safety hit the field on Sunday for the first time all year.
The significance of his remarkable return was not lost on Hamlin. Hamlin almost passed away on the field but ended up making a full recovery as the world prayed for him.
The Buffalo Bills safety took the field against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and hot mics captured emotional conversations with teammates, opposing players, and the man he credited with saving his life.
The 25-year-old had a special moment with Bills trainer Denny Kellington prior to kickoff.
“Love you, Denny,” Hamlin replied.
He was the same man who performed CPR on Hamlin as a team of medical professionals fought to restore his heartbeat nine months ago. Damar later referred to him as “the savior of my life.”
Hamlin also had a conversation with Tua Tagovailoa as the Dolphins QB said, “How you feeling, babe?”
