On Monday Night, the football world was turned upside down as we all watched in real-time as Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin made a tackle on Bengals WR Tee Higgins, get up, and then collapse to the ground on his back.
Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest and was resuscitated on the field before being transported to a Cincinnati area hospital.
As the NFL community continues to pray for Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin following his injury on Monday night in Cincinnati, every football analyst and personality has been giving their take on the tragic situation. ESPN’s Bart Scott, who was a former NFL linebacker, gave his worst take ever on Tuesday. He brought up the wide receiver that Hamlin tackled, which ultimately led to him collapsing on the field: Bengals’ Tee Higgins.
“Right before the tackle, [Higgins] lowers his helmet and he kinda throws his body into [Hamlin’s] chest,” Scott began to explain. “He’s standing up because he’s thinking he’s gotta chase Tee Higgins at an angle to make a tackle, so he didn’t expect Tee Higgins to launch his body back into him. It’s one of those things you see as a linebacker.”
Horrible take.
Damar Hamlin’s father had a message for Scott and anybody else that is blaming Tee Higgins.

“Damar’s father is among those calling for any criticisms of Bengals WR Tee Higgins (who was part of the play Damar was injured on) to STOP,” Harvey said on Twitter.
Scott’s reaction to the Hamlin injury is about as bad as what Skip Bayless had to say. His tweet may ultimately cause him and Shannon Sharpe to go their separate ways after the former NFL player did not show up for work the following day. His return only led to more discourse between the two.
Hamlin remains in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest during Monday night’s game against the Bengals. He is currently in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center’s intensive care unit after he collapsed on the field at around 8:55 p.m.
Hamlin’s family released a statement on Tuesday expressing “sincere gratitude” for the outpouring of support they received amid a “challenging time” for the family.
