Just a couple of short hours after Ezekiel Elliott signed with the New England Patriots, the best remaining NFL free agent also found his new home.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, free agent running back Dalvin Cook is signing with the New York Jets on a one-year worth a maximum value of $8.6 million.
Cook was released by the Minnesota Vikings in a cap-saving move back in June. At the time, few could have predicted that he wouldn’t sign until after the first week of preseason in mid-August. But finally, the four-time Pro Bowler has settled on a new destination.
After six years of going up against Aaron Rodgers in those heated Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers battles, the four-time 1,000-yard rusher is now teaming up with the four-time MVP in Gotham.
Cook joins a stacked Jets offense led by Rodgers, 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, fellow stud RB Breece Hall and wideouts Mecole Hardman, Corey Davis, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb.

The Jets, Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills (Cook’s younger brother James plays there) were widely mentioned as front-runners for Cook following his release from Minnesota. Sure enough, it was one of the AFC East clubs that won the Cook sweepstakes.
Last season, Cook rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. For his career, the 28-year-old Cook has 5,993 rushing yards and 47 rushing scores.
