Free agent running back Dalvin Cook can now put his off-the-field problems behind him after he settled the lawsuit filed against him by his ex-girlfriend in November 2021 after she accused him of assault, battery, and false imprisonment.
Former Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was accused of giving his ex-girlfriend a concussion and holding her hostage at his Inver Grove Heights home, according to court documents.
Per court documents obtained by ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, a hearing was scheduled for Tuesday this week, and the case was closed and settled.
Details of the settlement are not known.
In her original lawsuit, Gracelyn Trimble, the former girlfriend, stated she was offered $800,000 and then $1 million to settle her claims, as a court filing obtained by the Star Tribune last summer indicated.
Around that time, Dalvin Cook was seeking to bar testimony at trial of his proposed settlement offers. Trimble was 29-years-old at the time and stated she had flown to Minnesota and gone to Cook’s home in November 2020 to retrieve her things after their relationship came to an end.
In response, Cook and his lawyers said he was the actual victim, and it was Trimble who broke into his home and became physically aggressive toward him.

Trimble said in her lawsuit that Cook became irate when she sought his assistance in retrieving her belongings. He “grabbed her arm and slung her whole body over the couch, slamming her face into the coffee table and causing her lower forehead and the bridge of her nose to bust open.”
She then added she tried to spray him with mace, but he used his strength to overpower her, and the mace went into her eyes instead, according to the lawsuit. She went to shower when she was allegedly assaulted again.

Trimble further added she went into the bedroom, grabbed his gun, and called her friend. Cook reportedly heard her and threatened her before beating her with a broomstick, the suit claims.
Cook took her to the airport the following day.

Dalvin Cook would love to continue his NFL career, but he needs to find a new team.
The four-time Pro Bowl running back was one of the most productive backs in the league from 2017 to 2022, rushing for 5,993 yards and 47 touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings.
However, he struggled in 2023 with the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.
Running back Dalvin Cook’s short tenure with the Jets came to an end as both sides mutually agreed to part ways. Cook signed with the Jets last summer. He had just 67 carries for 214 yards and 15 catches for 78 yards this past season, via ESPN.com.
