There are reportedly two other teams to keep an eye on in the Dalvin Cook sweepstakes.
The Minnesota Vikings’ star running back has been the subject of trade rumors since the beginning of the offseason. Minnesota can save $9 million in cap space if they release Cook or $11 million if they end up trading him.
Speaking on the The Mackey & Judd Show (h/t Bleacher Report’s Doric Sam), Darren Wolfson of KSTP reported that the New York Jets have interest in Cook:
“A new team that I’ve heard is definitely interested is the New York Jets. You look at their running back position situation. Breece Hall we think will be back Week 1. The Jets have enormous expectations with Aaron Rodgers. Well, they could use an upgrade at the running back position.”
According to Wolfson, the Dallas Cowboys have “at least internally…kicked around the option of adding” the veteran running back.
The Jets are in win-now mode after acquiring four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in a massive blockbuster trade. Their top running back, Breece Hall, had 463 rushing yards in seven games before unfortunately suffering a torn ACL that ended his season.

Dallas released two-time rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott in a cap-saving move earlier this offseason, and they placed the franchise tag on leading rusher Tony Pollard.
So both the Jets and Cowboys do have a capable starting No. 1 back on their respective rosters, but it obviously doesn’t hurt to add a player of Cook’s caliber. The soon-to-be 28-year-old has exceeded 1,000 yards rushing in each of the last four years.
For his career, Cook has 5,993 rushing yards and 47 rushing touchdowns to go along with 221 receptions for 1,794 yards and five receiving scores.
