With only one year remaining on Dalvin Cook’s contract heading into the 2020 season, the former second-round pick is trying to break the bank now after coming off a career best season in 2019.
The proven game changer is on tap to be paid around $1.4 million for the 2020 season, which has him massively underpaid for a player of his caliber. A new contract for the Florida State product could end up paying him over $10 million per year.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN added the Vikings first offer to the former Florida State star comes in at under $10 million per year and he deemed that be “disrespectful.”
Because of that, it has been reported that Cook is headed towards holding out until he gets what he wants.
The 2017 second-round pick is looking to break into that top tier at the running back position as Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers leads the pack with his record signing contract just this offseason.
