Dalvin Cook remains a free agent 18 days after being released by the Minnesota Vikings, but it appears that’s because he wants to be.
According to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who was speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, the running back has received “multiple offers” from NFL teams, with the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and New England Patriots among teams to have tabled proposals to the Pro Bowl RB.
The former Minnesota Vikings star expressed a desire to remain patient and weigh his options during an interview with ESPN’s Adam Schefter last week, noting he’s made winning a Super Bowl a priority at this stage of his career and wants to play for a contender.
“I’m looking for somebody that’s ready to go win,” he told Schefter. “I can be the piece to go help somebody to turn the page of go win and turn the franchise to go get a Lombardi Trophy. That’s all I want. I want to hold that trophy up, kiss it one time. That’s all I’m looking for right now.”
Pelissero reckons the running back will sign a “significant” deal ahead of the 2023 season. He was set to make $11 million in base salary with the Vikings while counting for $14.1 million against their salary cap. It’s reported that they were keen on finding a trade partner before opting to cut him.
