Dalvin Cook is reportedly put off by the offer the Miami Dolphins have tabled and is unwilling to accept it.
Cook remains one of the premium running backs in the NFL, despite his release from the Minnesota Vikings earlier this offseason, and he’s looking for money that matches his status.
The details of Miami’s proposal have not been disclosed but, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, the player is “not willing” to put pen to paper on a deal under the current circumstances.
It appears the four-time Pro Bowler is willing to risk holding out for a better deal. Though he’s not satisfied with the offer, that hardly suggests he isn’t wanting to make Miami his new home.
Cook previously suggested that the Fins’ offensive scheme fits him perfectly.
“As a running back you look for a certain scheme and I know the scheme that I’m good in, and that’s outside zone, and that’s what the Miami Dolphins run,” he said recently, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “So it’s like, you know, it’d be a perfect fit. And the roster, like you said, speaks for itself.”

Negotiations could hinge on how badly Miami wants Cook. They’re going to have to make an improved offer if they’re really intent on signing the star running back this year.
