Dalvin Cook had thoughts of changing his jersey number after the NFL made a change to its policy. More positions, including running back, will be allowed to wear numbers 1-9. That means a player like Cook could make a change in coming years.
The former Florida State star rocked the No. 4 in college, but had to swithc to No. 33 when he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.
According to Pro Football Talk, it would’ve cost Cook $1.5 million to buy the rest of his current jersey inventory, so he made it clear he was keeping his original number.
The new rule allowed ranges are listed below:

- Quarterbacks: 1–19
- Defensive backs: 1–49
- Running backs, fullbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers: 1–49 and 80–89
- Offensive linemen: 50–79
- Defensive linemen: 50–79 and 90–99
- Linebackers: 1–59 and 90–99
Incoming rookies or players changing teams can choose a new number freely, while established players must buy out the existing inventory of unsold jerseys with their current number.
