Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott won’t face criminal charges.
Dallas police are no longer looking into allegations of sexual assault against quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys, according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram‘s Clarence Hill.
In March, the police said that they were looking into a woman’s allegation that Prescott had raped her seven years prior. However, they indicated on Thursday that they were unable to locate sufficient proof.
Per Dallas police spokesman Kristin Lowman, “An investigation was conducted, and the case is closed … Detectives determined there was insufficient evidence an offense was committed.”
“I want to thank the Dallas Police Department and Dallas County District Attorneys’ office for their thorough investigation of the allegations against Dak Prescott,” the quarterback’s attorney, Levi McCathern, said in a statement. “As we knew they would, they found nothing in their extensive exploration of the facts that would support a criminal prosecution.”
It was Dak Prescott’s team that made the accusations against him widely known. They filed a civil case, saying the lady was trying to extort him, demanding $100 million in exchange for her not reporting the claims to the police and accusing him of sexual assault.

Yoel Zehaie, the woman’s lawyer, promptly filed a countersuit containing the sexual assault accusations, asserting that the event took place on February 2, 2017, in the parking lot of the Dallas strip club XTC Cabaret. Zehaie described what happened as a rape.
“Unfortunately, it takes a while for victims to come out, and that can make it very difficult to prosecute these cases,” Zehaie said in an email to The Star-Telegram. “We thank DPD for their efforts, and this is in no way an exoneration of Mr. Prescott.
“In fact, we believe that the investigation showed there were inconsistencies with Mr. Prescott’s story and are moving forward with the counterclaims we have filed. This is not the beginning of the end but the end of the beginning in what will be a long legal battle for months to come.”
Dak Prescott’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, struck a different tone, telling Shan Shariff of 105.3 The Fan that she and her lawyers would be declared “guilty” after all investigations were completed.
“I want to thank the Dallas Police Department and Dallas District attorneys’ office for their thorough investigation of the allegations against Dak Prosper (sic). As we knew they would, they found nothing in their extensive exploration of the facts that would support a criminal prosecution. We are confident that at the end of law enforcement’s investigation into the extortion case that they will find the accuser and her attorneys just as guilty as Dak is innocent.
“As I have said from the beginning, Dak is a great football Player, but an even better human. He would never assault any woman. These false accusations were brought up 7 years after the alleged events for one reason and one reason only – to line the pockets of the accuser and her attorneys. Their behavior is an affront to all the true survivors of sexual abuse. Fortunately, for everyone involved Justice will prevail and I believe a harsh punishment is coming for these extorters.”
Dak Prescott Can Now Move On From Legal Troubles In Hopes Of Getting a Long-term Deal
Now that Dallas police are no longer pursuing sexual assault charges against Dak Prescott, he can get back to concentrating on football and hoping he gets a secured contract from the Dallas Cowboys.
With a no-franchise tag and no-trade clause in his four-year, $160 million contract, Prescott, who turns 31 in July, is entering the final season of his deal. This means the Cowboys front management is under pressure to have their quarterback re-signed before the 2024 season begins.
If the team chooses not to go that route, it’s highly likely Prescott will test the 2025 free agency market as an unrestricted free agent and find another team to pay him his worth.
