Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has warned NFL teams off of trying to sign one of his coaches.
The Cowboys are looking to finish the regular season strong, with two games left to go. But other teams aren’t as hopeful of achieving anything meaningful in 2022/23 and are already looking to make staff changes.
The Denver Broncos fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett on Monday and several names have emerged as potential targets for the top job there.
Cowboys DC Dan Quinn Could Be A Wanted Man
According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is one of the names being considered. Quinn, formerly the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, is thought to be a subject of interest for other teams, with the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts also in the market for a new head coach.
“I’m told some initial names being discussed for the #Broncos head coach vacancy, per league source, include: Dan Quinn, Darrell Bevell, Eric Bienemy, Sean Payton, Demeco Ryans, and Shane Steichen,” Anderson Tweeted earlier this week.
Jerry Jones Has A Message For Potential Suitors
Jones, though, is confident the Cowboys will remain Quinn’s employers.

“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on other teams potentially having interest in Cowboys DC Dan Quinn as a head coach: ‘We’ll follow the rules. We obviously did everything we could to keep Dan last year and we feel the same way about it this year,’” The Athletic’s Jon Machota also tweeted.
Quinn was expected to take a head coaching job elsewhere after some stellar work with the Dallas defense in 2021. However, he’s stayed put to date.
The prospect of an HC job will always be a tempting one for Quinn, especially after coming so close to leading the Falcons to Super Bowl victory in 2016. But Jerry doesn’t seem to be worried about losing the star defensive coordinator.
