The Dallas Cowboys are now one of two NFC teams being linked to a certain head coach who’s expected to be on the move at the end of the season.
Bill Belichick is expected to part ways with the New England Patriots at the end of what has been a very poor season. And, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Cowboys are monitoring the situation.
Belichick has been tipped to take charge of the Washington Commanders once he leaves NE, which has been the case for a few weeks, but Breer has reported that the Cowboys are also one of the teams “most connected” to the veteran head coach, claiming as much on a recent episode of ‘The Dan Patrick Show’.
“The two teams you hear mostly connected to Bill, at least from my perspective, have been Washington and Dallas,” Breer told Patrick. “Both are in the NFC East, both are historic franchises, both with owners that badly wanna win.”
NBC’s Peter King has also reported that Mike McCarthy will be let go if the Cowboys are made to endure another early playoff exit.
Despite Belichick’s struggles to recreate a winning atmosphere in the post-Tom Brady era, Jerry Jones is likely to have an interest in the six-time Super Bowl winner if he does make an exit at the end of 2023.
