Odell Beckham Jr. may have wanted to come to the Dallas Cowboys, but it appears that the feeling is no longer mutual.
The Dallas Cowboys announced Sunday that they’ve acquired Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys are sending a 2023 fifth-round draft pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick to Houston in exchange for Cooks.
Soon after that news was announced, reporter Calvin watkins announced that the team was officially out on signing Odell Beckham Jr.
Cooks caught 57 passes for 699 yards and three touchdowns last season. He has been trying to get out of Houston for sometime now. He will now be paired with his future teammate WR CeeDee Lamb. After seeing three head coaches in three seasons and the trade of Deshaun Watson, he didn’t want to be part of the rebuild.
Now he’s headed to a different Texas team that’s definitely not in rebuild mode.
For Odell, that is one less team he can take his talents to in free agency. He cleared up this week that he is not looking for a $20 million deal as reports stated he did, but added that someone giving him $4 million was not enough.
